Thermowood’s thermal modification respects the natural properties of wood. The raw material is processed using only heat and steam. The heat inside the thermal modification chamber is slowly raised up to a temperature of 212°C. The whole process can last as long as 110 hours. When the process is complete, the moisture percentage of the material is around 4–7%. Lowered equilibrium moisture content remarkably enhances the wood’s dimensional stability. Thermowood is weather and rot resistant, but also non-toxic and resin free. This is why the thermal modification makes the Thermowood an optimal building material in many ways.


The wood is free from resin and chemicals. No chemicals are used during the production process.
